How to distinguish between galvanized sheet and cold rolled sheet
Jan 08,2025
1. Observation of the surface
Galvanized sheet has a silver-white zinc layer on the surface, while the surface of the cold rolled sheet is gray. If no zinc layer can be observed, then it is likely to be a cold rolled sheet.
2. Use a magnet
Because there is a layer of zinc on the galvanized sheet, so the magnet can not be adsorbed. Cold rolled sheet is a ferrous material and can be adsorbed by a magnet.
3. Measuring thickness
Galvanized sheet is thicker than cold rolled sheet because of the zinc layer. You can use calipers or thickness gauge to measure the thickness of the sheet to determine whether it is galvanized.
In summary: Distinguishing between galvanized and cold rolled sheets requires methods such as observing the surface, using a magnet and measuring the thickness. When choosing plates, different materials should be selected according to specific uses and requirements to ensure project quality and safety.
